Abstract

Peruvian cinema’s history has a short and interrupted tradition due to various facts that directly affected it. General Velasco Alvarado’s dictatorship, terrorism and other events changed society and gave a 360 degree turn to the film industry. The following paragraphs try to explain why in Peru there is no genre cinema,although it is still under construction.
