Abstract

ABSTRACT:It is undeniable the contribution that journalistic photography offers in the construction of social memory, especially if it is about societies where social traumas occurred, such as terrorism in Peru between 1980 and 2000.This article is a complement to the doctoral thesis that the author develops on the study of journalistic photography as a valid historical document, taking into account the context of the publication and the editorial line of the media where the photograph is published, since these two elements, apart form many more, expand the contribution of the image for the construction of historical memory, having as reference the case and the means of communication mentioned in the title.
